Adele’s “25” sells 2.3 Million in first three days in US
Her latest release has enjoyed a record 2.3 million sales in the United States in the first three days of its release.

It’s looking like *NSYNC can say “bye, bye, bye” to one of their previous album sales records. Last week, three critically acclaimed album releases by Grimes, Jamie Woon and Floating Points sold a combined total of just 7,000 albums.
“Music industry analysts are projecting that Adele could sell upwards of 2.8 million to 2.9 million copies for its first week, which ends on Thursday”. Adele also did not allow streaming services like Spotify to make “25” available, so people anxious to hear it had to buy it.
Additionally, Adele’s sales have been given a hearty boost because they’re not now streamable on Spotify or Apple music or anywhere else – a business benefit not afforded to most major artists since about 2000, when Pandora was established (when, unsurprisingly, the current record holder “No Strings Attached” was released).
Graham Norton will host tonight’s special, which will also feature a sit-down interview and performances of new tracks “Hello”, “When We Were Young” and “Million Years Ago”, along with Adele classics “Rolling In The Deep” and “Someone Like You”.
Adele’s “25” will conclude its week on November 26. That would be the highest weekly sales for any album since at least 1991, when SoundScan – a tracking service now owned by Nielsen – began collecting reliable data from retailers.
“There are, or were, elements of what happened with 21 that really frightened me”, Billboard reported she said on air.
“I think the odds are in favor of “25” being a huge success because there’s so much anticipation”, British-based music industry consultant Mark Mulligan of MIDiA Research said.
“Adele is a phenomenon”, said Billboard co-director of charts Keith Caulfield to the NY Times.

The stats, revealed by the Official Charts Company, mean between its release on Friday and midnight Sunday, Adele sold 7,742 albums an hour, 124 a minute or just over two every second.
