Adele’s new album 25 will not be streamed on Spotify
That’s why yesterday’s NY Times report that the album wouldn’t be made available on Apple Music, Spotify, or any other streaming service is so big.

But streaming customers will have to content themselves with just that single, as Adele’s not allowing her album to be released on streaming services.
In a message on her Twitter account on Friday, Adele did not mention the decision not to stream the album but said she hoped fans would enjoy the music.
Following the footsteps of yet another enormous pop artist, Taylor Swift, who also didn’t share her “1989” album for online streaming services, Adele is reportedly doing the same for her album “25”, which carries her recently released tracks “Hello”, “When We Were Young” and “Water Under the Bridge”.
Adele “25” album will not be available through streaming on Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer. In a company statement he’s quoted as saying: “She’s using this as an opportunity to try and sell more CD’s or downloads”. However, Spotify’s growth now seems to be dependent on paid subscription. We’re not sure if Adele will be changing her mind anytime soon, but for now if you wish to listen to her album, you’ll have to buy it. Her reason to pull her album from Apple Music was that the company didn’t intend to pay artists during the free-trial period, something which angered many. A representative for the British singer declined to comment. According to Billboard magazine, music executives expect the album to sell about 2.5 million copies in its first week in the United States, a sum that is all but unheard-of today.
The NY Times reported that Adele “is said to have been personally involved with the decisions about streaming”. Many artists have no choice but to offer their music for streaming if they want to get their music to the masses, meaning that they have to accede to the terms set by the services.
“Hello” has also been streamed more than 156 million times on Spotify already, which puts it ahead of all of her other songs except for “Rolling in the Deep”, which has been streamed 188 million times.
“25” follows Adele’s successful “21” album in 2011 which sold above 30 million copies all over the world. Coming off of the 11 million selling 21, the response to 25’s first single “Hello” was overwhelmingly positive.

Critical reaction from music journalists who had access to advance copies suggest fans won’t be disappointed but perhaps “25” will not be the seminal experience “21” was for listeners.
