Rumors about Adele performing at the Super Bowl’s highly anticipated halftime show emerged earlier this month.

A minor controversy – or let’s call it a misunderstanding – has broken out over the question of whether Adele was ever really offered the chance to headline the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.

“I mean, come on, that show is not about music”, Adele said. “I’m going to do a dance album next time”, she told the crowd.

And here’s the NFL’s response hours later, via a statement (by way of Billboard.com): “The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. They did ask me, but I did say no”.

The 28-year-old singer is now on tour in the USA, but plans to stay in her $7.8 million Los Angeles mansion for some time after the run of shows draw to an end in November and is “excited” at the prospect of spending Christmas in the sun with her partner Simon Konecki and their three-year-old son Angelo.

A “formal” offer may not have been made, but it should surprise no one that Adele was the National Football League and Pepsi’s top pick.

Cold Play, Beyonc and Bruno Mars performed at the 2016 game’s halftime show at Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium.

Adele’s third studio album, “25”, was released last November and was the best-selling album of the year in the U.S.

However, Adele has said that she has turned down the offer because she feels as though the halftime show is not exactly about the music, and she doesn’t dance, so she doesn’t feel it would be the right gig for her.
