Adele smashes single-week US album sales record in four days

Since Spotify still aims to secure Adele’s new album for its streaming service in the subsequent future, it is essential that other streaming giants like Apple Music reconsider the artist’s keen focus on selling hard copies of her album.

Adele’s “25” has taken just three days to smash the record for the most album sales in America in a week.

In just over three days, 25 has sold at least 2,433,000 copies which beat the previous single-record for an album which was set by *NSYNC back in 2000 with their No Strings Attached album.

When Adele came out with “Hello” on October 23, the lead single from her third album “25”, it set the record for being the first song to hit the one million download mark on Billboard. But despite their streaming ban, some services that have songs from 25 are still streaming. Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S, thus it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week.

Henderson also told EW, “We know 25 will be one of the biggest albums this holiday season”.

“Good news radio listeners, you can now hear all songs from Adele’s latest album 25 on Pandora”, Pandora said in a statement yesterday.

After a four year break between album releases, the Grammy Award-winning 21 and the now already-legendary 25, Adele fans can rejoice over the new album.

That sold 696,000 copies in its first week. And Taylor Swift, whose “1989” has broken the 5 million sold mark, pulled her music from Spotify and tussled publicly with Apple Music over artist compensation.

Adele has previously spoken of how she suffers from stage fright, while some media reports had suggested she would not tour her latest album as she does not like leaving her three-year-old son Angelo. But, of course, what you should really be saying is, “Well, that’s what you can achieve if you are Adele”.
