“As the creator brand that challenges convention and looks to co-create the future with our consumers, we are obsessed with bringing all steps of the creation process home to America”.

The 74,000-square-foot facility will be located in Cherokee County, a suburban area roughly 30 miles northwest of Atlanta.
Adidas has announced that it will open a new shoe-making factory in the United States next year. The “first-of-its-kind” U.S. factory, which employs robot cobblers, according to TechCrunch, will enable the company to create products in higher volumes, and with advanced complexity.
Adidas is shaking things up after “playing by the same rules” and manufacturing footwear remotely in Asia for a long time, according to Eric Liedtke, executive board member in charge of global brands.
The adidas Speedfactory will use a highly automated process, as shown in this photo from a test facility in Germany. Thanks to these technologies, Adidas says it will be able to push out high volumes of shoes with complex designs, including complex materials and colors, at a rapid rate. It’s what athletes train for, and it’s essential to our consumers who live in a world of immediacy.
The factory is set to be fully functional by late 2017, said the brand, and will focus on running footwear. That timeframe makes the company’s other goal – to produce at least 50,000 pairs of shoes at the facility next year – quite ambitious. TheU.S. SPEEDFACTORY will create around 160 jobs.
Adidas will be opening a facility in Atlanta, Georgia next year in order to bring its shoe manufacturing closer to its US customers.

“Georgia offers industry leaders such as Adidas the necessary resources to compete worldwide”, Gov. Nathan Deal said in the release. “Our state is emerging as a sports corridor for the Southeastern U.S., and our business-friendly climate will be a match for Adidas’ new operation”.
