Lawyers for the teen – who was 16 at the time of the crash that killed four people – successfully argued in 2013 he should not go to prison because he suffered from growing up in affluent circumstances.

Described as a mix of shepherd and wolf, Virgil was on the trip with the teen and his mother when they took off to Mexico, apparently to avoid USA authorities after the teen is said to have violated the terms of his probation.

Tonya Couch is scheduled to appear in a Texas court for her arraignment this morning after being transported from Los Angeles on Thursday.

If the mother is released on bond, she will be tracked by a Global Positioning System monitor and more conditions can be added by the judge too, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Reports suggest that the 48-year old woman Tonya Couch may face up to 10 years in prison if convicted in Tarrant County on a third-degree felony charge of aiding her son Ethan.

A video purporting to show Couch playing beer pong – a violation of his probation order, which required him to stay away from alcohol – had appeared online shortly before his disappearing act; authorities have been investigating the video but say it is not sufficient evidence to prove that Couch violated his probation. Anderson said Tonya said no to any media interviews and only made two requests when she arrived at the jail – a call to her lawyer and something to eat.

Ethan Couch’s mom, Tonya, is expected to arrive at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport this afternoon. The proposed bail will be $1 million. They were arrested in Mexico late last month.

Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said at a news conference Friday that he responded to Tonya Couch’s complaints by saying it “is a jail, not a resort”. “She said the deputies had treated her better than she’d expect to be treated”.

Ethan Couch is on probation for killing four people in a drunk driving crash in 2013.
