Investigation is underway to determine if Rahami had help to carry out the explosions.

The suspect, who is being held on $5.2m bail, was sleeping in the doorway of a bar when the owner reported him to police. He called the police after that.

“A lot of technology was involved in this, but a lot of good, old-fashioned police work, too”, New York Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

It has been reported that Rahami travelled to Afghanistan and Pakistan multiple times in recent years, with police considering whether he had been radicalised overseas.

A domestic dispute in 2014 triggered Federal Bureau of Investigation scrutiny into NY area bombing suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami. Federal law enforcement is consider further charges related to the bombing. He stayed with his family members, who were refugees, in Quetta.

He added: ‘Now they say he is a terrorist.

Last weekend’s attacks have sparked fears of future homegrown terrorism or plots orchestrated from overseas.

Authorities say two Linden officers were wounded trying to arrest Rahami. One of the open questions is the link to a stabbing attack in Minnesota.

Rahami is suspected of being responsible for the bombings in both NY and New Jersey. “Cops are the real heroes, law enforcement are the real heroes”, Bains said.

Mr Rahami had not previously been identified as unsafe, but Elizabeth police knew of his family because of late-night noise and crowd complaints at its halal chicken restaurant. Still, some of the family restaurant’s customers said Rahami was more likely to talk about his interest in cars than to mention faith. “He’s always in there.he’s a very friendly guy, That is what is so scary”. “That’s what’s so scary”.

He is suspected of Saturday’s bombings in New York City and Seaside Park, New Jersey, and is believed to be connected to pipe bombs found Sunday night in Elizabeth, New Jersey, CNN quoted sources as saying. No one was injured.

The city was sent into panic when a bomb went off in a dumpster in Chelsea on September 17 and though no one was killed, 29 people were injured. An unexploded pressure cooker with a cellphone attached and wires protruding was found four blocks away; it was taken to a firing range, where it was safely detonated.

Police discovered several explosive devices late Sunday inside a bag at a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, just north of Linden. Other devices were also found and the authorities have sought to reassure the public.
