After 17 years: Martina Hingis reaches Wimbledon final in women’s doubles
Djokovic, a two-time Wimbledon champion, beat Federer in five sets in last year’s final. In the second game of the first set, a textbook, neatly-disguised lob bamboozled her opponents.

Serena Williams is up a break in the second set, leading 3-1 after taking the first set 6-4.
Roger Federer is one set from a 10th Wimbledon final. I won it here as a junior twice.
“I wouldn’t have thought that I’d be back playing the finals here”, Hingis said.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion broke Garbine Muguruza to even the score at 4-4 in the first set. “Hopefully we can win the title here”.
Serena Williams has gone down an early break in the Wimbledon final.
It was the percentage of winners on first serve – 71% for Makarova-Vesnina to 63% for Hingis-Mirza which made the difference. “To hold up the trophy with Sania, three years ago I would sign for this right away, that’s for sure”.
But it was what she achieved as a teenage singles player that marked her out as a true grass-court great.
Game 11 – A volley error by Sania followed by a double fault and the Indo-Swiss team are in trouble. Though both pairs earned six chances each in the match, it was Paes and Hingis who converted thrice to their opponents’ one, which proved to be the difference. And this year also played at quarterfinals with her new partner Indian Sonia Mirza.
The chair umpire for the women’s final at Wimbledon will be Alison Hughes.
They would face a tougher challenge against American duo of Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, both highly experienced in title encounters at this level. The match will take place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
While Hingis continued to change her position, remarkably standing back at baseline to challenge Makarova’s net game, the Indian-Swiss pair seemed to lose a bit of ground against the aggressive net play by the Russians.
