After a Ted Cruz letdown, it’s Donald Trump’s big day

During the campaign for the party’s nomination, Trump insulted Cruz’s wife’s looks and suggested the Texan’s father was with John F Kennedy’s assassin just before the president was shot in Dallas in 1963. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, walks from the podium after speaking during the Republican National Convention, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Cleveland. Rick Perry eventually endorsed Cruz after ending his own presidential bid.

“They saw my speech several hours before I gave it. They knew exactly what I was going to say”, Cruz said at Thursday’s breakfast meeting. One of Trump’s central themes in this campaign, said Weidenkopf, is to drop political correctness and that’s what Trump got from Cruz today.
