Xiaomi’s India subsidiary Mi India has announced its Mi Protect plans to cover accidental and liquid damages to Xiaomi devices selling in India. The insurance cover for a Redmi 2 and a Redmi 2 Prime costs Rs 275, while the cover for devices like Mi 4i, Mi Pad and the Mi 4 16GB variant costs Rs 499. Since all the devices are technically under warranty, you can get Mi Protect for all the aforementioned devices. It is valid for a year, and Mi Protect users are entitled to services like accidental liquid damage, doorstep pickup-drop service, SIM card blocking, and Docusafe among others. The company in a press statement confirms that users will get a second servicing for free within one year of activation.
Also, users can get their SIM blocked from anywhere in the world with a call to the company’s call center. Furthermore, 1GB of cloud storage feature also comes as a part of the service and free call assistance to new smartphone users. Xiaomi Redmi 1s, Redmi 2, and Redmi 2 Prime users will have to pay 425, Redmi Note 4G users have to pay 549, Mi 4 will have to pay 899 for the 16GB variant, 999 for the 64GB variant, and Mi 4i and Mi 3 users will have to pay 749.
