A principal reason for the latest defeat is the way the party has been emasculated in the past year…
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the BJP had won the national and a few state elections under the current leadership.
Mr Singh’s remarks follow a joint statement by BJP veterans, including LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Shourie, where they alleged that the party had been “forced to kow-tow to a handful, and how its consensual character has been destroyed”.
“It’s wrong to say the RSS chief’s statement didn’t have any impact”. “It shows those who would have appropriated credit are bent on shrugging off responsibilty for the disastrous showing in Bihar”, it added. BJP President Amit Shah’s invocations of virulent nationalism to reap an electoral harvest struck no chord with the voters.
The leaders demanded that a thorough review must not be done by the very persons who have managed and have been responsible for the campaign in Bihar.
Slamming the Modi government over a host of issues including the decision of easing foreign direct investment (FDI) across 15 sectors, Salim said the resentment among the people against the BJP was growing.
There has been a lot of post-election scrutiny that the BJP has subjected itself to.
“On the eve of Diwali, we are witnessing the first fireworks”.
