After bitter battles, Cruz expected to say he will vote for Trump
But facing intensifying political pressure to back Trump, Cruz said he would cast a vote for Trump, while stopping short of an official endorsement in a statement posted Friday on Facebook. That’s even after Trump claimed he didn’t want Cruz’s endorsement immediately after the convention chaos. Jump ahead a few months after Cruz’s stand on the man who insulted his wife never getting his thumbs up and the tide has changed.

“And Donald Trump is the only thing standing in her way”.
“This endorsement will not convince #NeverTrump folks to change our minds about The Donald”, he continued, “but we may well be forced to reconsider our support for Sen”.
Regardless of what happens in this year’s election, Ted Cruz will not be elected President in 2020 after his endorsement of Donald Trump.
The first presidential debate is only three days away and with Cruz stepping forward at this time and date, does that give Trump a little more wind under his wings? Trump has frequently reminded his Republican critics who are gravitating toward Hillary Clinton or considering sitting out the race that the makeup of the Supreme Court is on the line, and even some of his most ardent skeptics in Georgia say they are backing him primarily because they are anxious about the judiciary’s future. I think he is – one of the reasons he did so well in this campaign is because that he is a solid constitutional conservative.
Cruz’s decision might lessen his luster for some of his most faithful admirers, who respected his refusal to bend to the demand that he endorse a candidate for president whom Cruz had made clear he found to be philosophically undependable and personally repugnant.
The poll underscores those daunting roadblocks for Trump as he tries to overtake Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
In justifying his 180-degree turn, Cruz pointed to his promise to vote for the Republican nominee previous year. “And I intend to keep my word”. “We need “all hands on deck” to ensure that Mr. Trump prevails”, said the mega-donors Robert and Rebekah Mercer to the New York Times.
At the nadir of their confrontation, Trump tweeted an unflattering picture of Heidi Cruz next to a photo of his own former model wife Melania, along with the text, “The images are worth a thousand words”.
The senator, known for his firebrand style and arch-conservative views, faces a possible uphill battle in his home state of Texas, where he could face a primary challenger while running for re-election in 2018.
Cruz’s move inspired backlash from many Republicans who saw the the speech as a snub of Trump. “Mike Lee, who would make an extraordinary justice – and making an explicit commitment to nominate only from that list”, Cruz said. Glenn Beck, who had campaigned for Cruz across the country, compared him to the abolitionist Sen.
“He ended his post saying, “(I) f you don’t want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency, I encourage you to vote for him”.
Cruz did call Beck to talk about the Trump endorsement.

Earlier Friday, Trump added 10 names to the list he says he’d use to fill Supreme Court vacancies if he becomes president.
