After call on House speakership, Romney calls Ryan ‘man of ideas’

It was all they could talk about after a GOP conference meeting on Friday morning.

Ryan has repeatedly said that he is not interested in the position, and as soon as Friday, a Ryan spokesman repeated that message. “I wouldn’t presume to tell Paul what to do, but I do know that he is a man of ideas who is driven to see them applied for the public good”, Romney said.

“The fact is, yes, I think that I could potentially be a candidate”. “He’s considered very smart”. “It’s just the people who eschew populism and conservative politics are the ones in the cult”.

“I’m going to keep working on Paul Ryan”, Issa said.

Wanless says it could get uglier for Republicans if Ryan doesn’t run. “He’s a dear friend”.

This minority was large enough to make Boehner’s speakership a constant trial, which contributed to his decision to retire.

Pressure has been mounting on Ryan to run for House speaker in the wake of Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s shocking decision to pull out of the race.

But despite the many entreaties, the House adjourned for a weeklong recess Friday, and Ryan left his suitors wanting, returning to his family and advisers in Janesville, Wisconsin, to discuss his future, and, he said, to watch the Green Bay Packers game Sunday. He was widely expected to win, and there wasn’t a backup plan.

They used him as a prop to declare Eric Cantor to be “the number one enemy to comprehensive immigration reform” when speaking to an audience that wants a wall built.

Another Ways and Means Committee member, Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) allowed that at least Ryan was thinking about it, despite Ryan’s own all-but-complete rejection of the idea. “What do you think of Paul Ryan?”

“I disagree with a few of the things”. “And in my opinion, the right thing is for him to run”.

A Congressional aide told Breitbart News, “Putting Paul Ryan’s finger on the nuclear switch when it comes to open borders is one of the most terrifying thoughts imaginable”.

It is a case in which, one of his colleagues said, “the job is seeking the man”.

“He’s smiling today, so that’s good”, said Rep. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.).
