After Donald Trump, Megyn Kelly ‘Won’t Apologize for Doing Good Journalism’

According to a Fox News executive not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, Trump’s latest TV appearances indicate the candidate has likely gotten the message that Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes and the rest of his organization are solidly backing Kelly and her performance at the debate.

Kelly responded to the controversy on her show, The Kelly File, on Tuesday, saying that, “I certainly will not apologize for doing good journalism”.

If Donald Trump’s comments about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly are hurting his standing in the Republican primary, it’s not showing in the numbers.

His return to the network Tuesday morning made no mention of his spat with Kelly, other than host Steve Doocy’s greeting, in which he welcomed Trump and said, “Glad we’re friends again”. “She asked me a very, very nasty question”.

“This is a tough business, and it’s time now to move forward… let’s get back to the news”. During the event, Kelly confronted him with derogatory comments he’s made about women, including calling individual women “fat pigs” and “dogs”.

Ailes continued: “I assured him that we will continue to cover this campaign with fairness & balance”.

“What worries me obviously is if he or anybody who might be able to get a percentage of the votes that come from us”, added Nosef. Trump, who is now the front-runner, will not apologize.

In this Thursday, August 6, 2015 photo, republican presidential candidate Donald Trump participates in the first Republican presidential debate at the Quicken Loans Arena, in Cleveland. But Fox executives also want to solidify the credibility of their network as a real news organization, not exclusively a conservative megaphone, and there is a strong inclination at Fox to defend Kelly, one of the network’s most popular commentators. “Sure, I would spend that if I am doing well!”

In a statement issued on Monday evening, Mr Ailes said the air had been cleared and said the conversation was “blunt but cordial”. As another Republican nominee stated Trump’s reaction, Carly Fiorina told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday on “State of the Union” that “women understood that comment” and it was offensive.

Cuomo: So, you’re over it. Was it part of the deal that Megyn Kelly wouldn’t go on her show and attack you and keep it going?
