After epic rocket crash, historic success for SpaceX
The ORBCOMM-2 Mission carried 11 satellites into low-earth orbit.

SpaceX commentators described the launching and return – the initial time an orbital rocket successfully reached a restricted landing on Earth – as “very exciting”.
Before this year, rockets boosters were incredibly expensive feats of engineering that became incredibly expensive garbage as soon as they served their function.
SpaceX and Elon Musk had just set new milestone for the space industry. Previous attempts, all unsuccessful, were attempted on floating landing pads.
When everything then looked like a go Sunday, Musk tweeted that he had chose to wait one day when the conditions for landing the rocket looked 10 percent better.
In Silicon Valley’s race to space, Elon Musk is back on top.
The landing paves the way for potentially reusing rockets for space launches, which SpaceX and other companies hope will dramatically reduce the cost of gaining access to space. The SpaceX launch and landing this week was a much trickier accomplishment, and marks the first time a rocket has been safely landed after delivering a payload into orbit.
Rival company Blue Origin, a space startup founded by Amazon.com (AMZN.O) Chief Executive Jeff Bezos, nailed a similar return rocket landing test last month.
Video images on SpaceX s webcast showed the first stage of the rocket touching down at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The touchdown was a secondary objective for SpaceX. It aims to resume supply missions to the space station in February.
Monday’s event is the first launch of the Falcon 9 rocket since a failed mission to the International Space Station in June.

“SpaceX is further planning two launches next month, including a commercial satellite and an ocean science satellite for NASA”.
