After frustrating loss to Rams, Russell Wilson promises brighter days ahead

“That’s an issue”, Seattle coach Pete Carroll said on Monday. “I was kind of just roaming the field”.

RB Thomas Rawls made his first start in Los Angeles since he broke his ankle last season and had only seven carries for minus-seven yards before coming out after his shin was kicked.

The Los Angeles Rams were able to beat the Seahawks thanks to three field goals, holding the Hawks to just one three-pointer. They are off in too many areas now, but once (or if) Wilson’s ankle heals, Rawls gets back into game form and offensive line coach Tom Cable puts his voodoo on the guys up front, we could be having a very different discussion. The Rams’ defensive line overwhelms the Seahawks’ scrap heap of an offensive line.

“We’re not far off by any means”, Wilson said after the game.

It was the only third down Seattle converted in all of the second half, the Seahawks failing on their next four attempts. Brissett was 6 of 9 for 92 yards.

Lockett led Seattle with 99 receiving yards on four catches. “That’s still the key, and converting and creating a new set of downs and all that is crucial”. “And we just found ourselves, by our own doings, we found ourselves in a bunch of third-and-longers”. So that was an unusual game in that regard. As noted by Carroll, this year’s penalties were harsher than in the previous ones due to the team’s past offenses.

A day after falling to 1-1 with an ugly, 9-3 road loss to the Rams, Seattle was docked a fifth-round pick, a week of offseason practices and fined $400,000 for what the National Football League determined was “excessive on-field physical contact” last spring. The league announced no fine, but ESPN reported the team and Carroll were collectively fined $300,000.

Seahawks players will be paid for the canceled sessions in 2017.

Now they are back in Los Angeles where they will play at the fabled Coliseum until construction of the nearby Inglewood Stadium is completed and the venue is opened for the 2019 season. “You’ve got to give a guy the opportunity to make a play”.

The disciplinary action stems from a live practice video on June 6 that was reviewed independently by the league and NFL Players Association.

Here”™s what he said in 2015 after the team was penalized for what was termed excessive physical contact the previous offseason at a minicamp: “We want to do things right. “I’m trying to get in the end zone and I’m trying to play better and better”. The defense continually kept Russell Wilson on his toes throughout the contest giving up just one scoring drive and stalling several others with only one series reaching double-digits plays called. We were really excited about him. But we didn’t run the ball quite as well as we have. “So we’ve made strong efforts to do that, but we’re still working at it”.

Of course, Wilson tweeted that out prior to the announcement that the Seahawks would lose a draft pick and practice time for yet another violation of no-contact rules. Carroll was fined $200,000, and the Seahawks must forfeit their first week of OTAs (organized team activities) in 2017. One of the big similarities between the first two games was the field position.

Ifedi worked at right guard with the first-team offense for the entirety of the offseason after being selected in the first round of the draft this spring.
