French authorities said more than 70,000 Russian, Slovak, English and Welsh fans could head to Lille.

Slovakia took the lead on 32 minutes when Hamsik picked out Vladimir Weiss with a raking pass and he cut back inside two Russian defenders before finishing.

The three Russians and a Ukrainian were among 10 people arrested for violence and drunkness.

“Russia and Slovakia, we are close as nations”, said Slovakia fan Maric Blesko, who is from Bratislava.
