The discovery of heightened lead levels has ratcheted up the pressure on Snyder’s administration this week, with many blaming the governor since the switch to river water was implemented under his appointed emergency manager.

Q. What led to Flint’s decision this past week to seek to reconnect to Detroit’s water system?

Last month, a Hurley Medical Center doctor published a study showing that the percentage of Flint infants and children with above average lead levels has almost doubled citywide, and has almost tripled among children in “high risk” areas of lead exposure, according to the study.

■Making free water testing available to residents.

Virginia Tech researchers have said the city’s treated Flint River is very corrosive, causing lead from service lines to leach into tap water. There also appear to be serious issues with how the City was testing for lead in a way that appears to downplay the extent of the problem. But how Flint pays for safe water until the Karegnondi Water Authority is operational is a separate question.
