Despite Jose Mourinho hinting at further signings, the Portuguese was never likely to build upon his captures of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the aforementioned France global.

Marcos Rojo is one such player.

The Argentina worldwide has been linked with a departure this summer, most recently to La Liga outfit Valencia.

That’s the situation according to his agent, Carlos Goncalves, anyway.

United are keen to move Rojo, and his £120,000-a-week salary, off their books so several loan proposals, from England, Italy and Spain, were rejected.

Valencia have made a late bid to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, according to the Daily Mirror.

In truth, it comes as no real surprise that Mourinho opted against selling Rojo considering the dearth of quality defensive reinforcements at his disposal.

The Argentine worldwide has found playing time limited under Jose Mourinho, particularly ever since Luke Shaw returned from injury.

However, the 26-year-old, who has been linked with a switch to Valencia, is yet to feature in a Premier League game under Van Gaal’s successor Jose Mourinho.

But Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he is still a fan of the player.
