Aggressive Lightning forecheck setting tone in second round series
“If I threw it at somebody, I’d like to apologize, but I didn’t”. I don’t think we’re getting the chances we had late in the season.

The Lightning played a great defensive game through the third period, keeping this one at 3-1 Lightning until Steven Stamkos finally scored a goal in this series (on an empty net). David Pastrnak, the Bruins’ deadliest scorer, could not manage to fling a single puck on Andrei Vasilveskiy. If you read and enjoy our journalism, please consider subscribing today. We weren’t executing very well. “If [Heinen-Nash-Backes] stay in, obviously, they need to be better”.
Then they put the Bruins into a sleeper hold, stifling the Bruins for two periods, all while withstanding Boston’s attempts to draw Tampa Bay into a street feet. Victor Hedman fired a shot from the point, and Palat redirected it into the net for his second of the period.
“We’ll probably tinker. I’m not going to tell you who’s going in or who’s going out”.
Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy elected to pull goaltender Tuukka Rask with a little less than three minutes left in the third period.
“That’s where it starts”, Cassidy said of Marchand and DeBrusk’s status in terms of determining the lineup.
What was a bright spot for the Bruins in the regular season has now become a complete mess in their series with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
So what should the lineup look like for Game 4 on Friday night? Yzerman seems set on being with the Lightning for years to come. The puck squirted out to Tyler Johnson, who relayed it over to Ondrej Palat. He was not disciplined for a blindside hit on Brian Dumoulin in Game 2 that forced the Pens’ defenseman to go through the NHL’s concussion protocol. “It’s the same thing”. With the exception of a five-minute span in the third period of Game 1 in which the Penguins had a three-goal rally to win, the Caps could be ahead of the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions three games to none. Marcus Sorensen, Joonas Donskoi, Tomas Hertl and Joe Pavelski scored goals, and Brenden Dillon and Logan Couture each had two assists for the Sharks, who have bounced backed from a 7-0 loss in the opening game to even the best-of-seven series. “When you do that, you just kind of shorten the ice for them to not be able to make plays”. But just when the B’s got buzzing, the Lightning struck them down again. I think we’ve had chances in the last two games to get out in front, but (Marc-Andre) Fleury has I think been exceptional, especially early in games, in order to keep us off the board. They’ve done it the last two times out.
With the exception of failing to taking advantage of a long 5-on-3 power play, the Bruins made the most of limited chances, with the Bergeron line leading the way.
Tampa Bay came out of the gate ready to play and Boston looked to be on their heels.
Usually a team playing at home for the first time in a series has all the jump. “So we have to respect the game a little better”, said Marchand. “This game’s over, it’s done with and we’ll move on”. The Bruins are down for the first time this series and they need to give Ryan Donato a shot.
Remember as well that Tampa Bay had a week off between the end of their series with New Jersey and the start of their series with Boston. His other outings with something even as modest as a.910-plus SP have been games the Bruins either lost or won by a considerable margin.
