Nolito scored the third for City after Iheanacho’s brilliant run on the right shrugged of a defender then played a one-two Silva before rounding the goalkeeper and unselfishly finding the Spaniard who put the match beyond doubt.
Manchester City were clearly the better side, and won a penalty after 26 minutes.
Sergio Aguero rediscovered his accuracy from the penalty spot in scoring one of his two goals for Manchester City in a 4-1 win at Stoke in the Premier League on Saturday.
Newcastle, 15-8 ante-post favourites for the Sky Bet Championship, won 1-0 at Bristol City to take their seasonal record to two wins and two defeats.
“In the first half, we played good”.
Guardiola knew the talent he was getting in Aguero when he made a decision to join Manchester City, but I’m sure he didn’t even think he was going to get this fast of a start by his star striker. “The manager makes mistakes, the referees make mistakes”. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already created a big buzz in Manchester this season and Aguero looks to be matching the big Swede stride for stride.
The Bavarian giant is chasing a fifth consecutive German title, with Carlo Ancelotti having succeeded Pep Guardiola as head coach.
They nearly got back into the game in the final quarter hour when Long glanced a header just wide before Tadic blazed wide late on.
The England forward repeatedly attacked full-back Phil Bardsley, beating him on the outside for pace and drifting past him on the inside with his quick feet.
The visitors rounded off the scoring in stoppage time as Raheem Sterling, who was through on goal, teed up Nolito for the easiest of tap-ins, 4-1. Jesus Navas has the same amount – albeit in 5,648 minutes of action.
Champion Leicester was left fuming after two penalty appeals were denied, with Danny Drinkwater felled by Laurent Koscielny at the end of the first half and substitute Ahmed Musa brought down by Hector Bellerin in the 88th minute.
Butland’s replacement, Shay Given, had little chance with any of City’s goals but Stoke’s notoriously well-organised defence look vulnerable without their first choice keeper. “I want to tell them they have to be proud of the Manchester City players”.
A Football Association directive before the season instructed referees to be stricter with infringements in the box and City benefited. Dean then evened it up at the start of the second half when Sterling was punished for a similar foul, this time on Shawcross, although replays showed minimal contact.
A very convincing penalty shout was turned away by the referee after Otamendi bundled over Allen in the box much to the disgust of the Stoke players.

The Tigers had been 17-4 to follow up their opening win over champions Leicester with another three points in South Wales and the result boosted the chances of caretaker manager Mike Phelan getting the job permanently.
