Ahead of BJP National Council meet, Kozhikode awash in saffron hue

Describing Pakistan as the only country “exporting terrorism” across the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India will never forget the Uri terror attack in which 18 soldiers were martyred.

The entire government machinery, including Prime Minister’s Office will function from Kozhikode for two days, since numerous Central Ministers are participating in the National Council of BJP.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has alleged that India has hastily blamed it for the Uri attack without investigation.

Accordingly, Ram Madhav underlined that although the party meetings were essentially convened to dwell on the development and pro-poor agenda to coincide with Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s birth centenary celebrations, all “relevant issues and concerns” too will be discussed at the “appropriate forum and time”.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said Saturday evening that it would release an official reaction to Modi’s comments later. “We initiated talks with Pakistan and this was the reason the whole world is supporting India and Pakistan has been isolated”, he said.

Against the backdrop of the Uri attack in which 18 soldiers were killed, a key leader maintained that the party appreciates the sentiments in the country and that “action will keep happening” against Pakistan. The last assertion came after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the United Nations General Assembly.

Asked about Russian Federation sending its troops to Pakistan after initial reports that it would not do so in “solidarity” with India, he said: “A lot of news is floating around on these issues”. “So how is it that India exports software, but you (Pakistan) export terrorists”. “You want only statements or action?” he said, in answer to a question. Let things come out, let us see what the facts are.

A political resolution expected to be adopted at the BJP meet that the PM is attending, is likely to include the situation in Kashmir and the Uri attack. He said, “Leaders of our neighbouring nation used to say that they will fight against us for thousand years”. Meanwhile, escalating its attack on the government over the Uri terror attack, Congress today demanded the resignation of defence minister Manohar Parrikar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, saying they have “failed” to deliver.
