Ahmad Khan Rahami: suspect for New York bombing named
Gov. Andrew Cuomo had said earlier the explosion in Manhattan didn’t appear to be linked to worldwide terrorism.

However, a police source who spoke to the New York Post said an unidentified man had called them after the bombings over the weekend, warning there would be more.
“Rahami is a 28-year-old United States citizen of Afghan descent born on January 23, 1988, in Afghanistan”.
Meanwhile, the federal authorities were also investigating whether the NY blast had any links to the suspicious backpack, containing “multiple explosive devices”, that was found at a train station in New Jersey today.
Authorities are seeking a man for questioning in both bombings. A pipe bomb also exploded in New Jersey on Saturday, with authorities investigating whether the three devices were connected.
“In the coming hours we are going to be able to say a lot more about what happened here”, de Blasio said. “We need the facts to be able to piece all this together”.
Investigators also think that Rahami was not acting alone, but do not know who the others are. “Things are moving very quickly”.
Derek Armstead – mayor of Linden New Jersey, where the suspect was captured – said the owner of a bar found him sleeping in his hallway on Monday morning.
A police robot examining the bag early on Monday cut a wire causing it to explode.
The discovery of the suspicious package comes a day after an explosion in Manhattan injured 29 people, and an unexploded pressure-cooker device was found four blocks away.
Asked if Rahami was part of a terrorist “cell” on CNN (by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s brother), Mayor Bill de Blasio responded, “I would be careful in using the word ‘cell'”.
On Monday, officials were searching an apartment and chicken restaurant at 104 Elmora Ave.in Elizabeth, the Union County seat and a city of about 125,00 residents.
Cuomo says: “Today’s information suggests it may be foreign related, but we’ll see where it goes”. “My operating premise is anytime, anywhere, seven days a week you could have an incident like this”.
President Barack Obama, speaking in NY, said officials did not believe there was a connection between events in NY and New Jersey and the stabbing attack in Minnesota, also on Saturday, in which nine people were injured.
Law enforcement officials told the Associated Press that at least five men were being questioned after the Brooklyn traffic stop.
No one has been charged with any crime.
An explosion in Manhattan on Saturday injured 29 people but so far no connection has been made to Seaside Park.
The authorities have now linked the explosive devices in both NY and New Jersey.
Federal Bureau of Investigation officials were searching a residence in the New Jersey city on Monday.
