Ahmad Khan Rahami: What we know about bombing suspect

So why is Clinton the “corrupt” one? The suspect was deemed armed and risky, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. “Folks around here, they don’t get scared”. An explosive device went off in a town along the Jersey Shore earlier on Saturday.

Multiple senior law enforcement officials told NBC News that the suspicious device discovered Sunday night in Elizabeth looked similar in appearance to the one that exploded Saturday morning in Seaside Park, N.J.

The New York Post reports that early on Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched a raid in Rahami’s hometown of Elizabeth, hours after discovering five suspicious devices in the region – one of which blew up near a train station.

An Afghanistan-born American sought in connection with a series of bombings that wounded 29 people in the New York City area over the weekend was in custody after a gun battle with police yesterday, a New Jersey mayor said.

Authorities may also have discovered a link between the Chelsea explosion and a pressure cooker found blocks away. They have not identified him or any other person or group as responsible for the bombing.

The raid in Elizabeth came hours after an explosive device left near a train station there blew up when a bomb squad robot cut a wire on the mechanism, the mayor said.

Another device was then found on nearby West 27th Street. Sources say they believe Rahami is connected to those pipe bombs. A pipe bomb also exploded Saturday in Seaside Park ahead of the race for Marines and sailors, but no one was injured. Investigators didn’t immediately comment on whether they thought the Elizabeth incident was connected to either of the two blasts.

NY governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday that the explosion in Chelsea could be an act of terrorism with a foreign connection, AP reported.

Law enforcement officials are “moving smartly”, he said, and “it does not help if false reports or incomplete information is out there”.

President Barack Obama says Rahami, a naturalized citizen from Pakistan, was involved in a shooting with police officers in Linden, New Jersey Monday morning.

Bollwage said that two men found a bag containing five devices in a trash can at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The remaining four devices will be transferred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation laboratory at Quantico, Virginia, said Bollwage. As of Monday morning, experts had not found any links between Rahami and MA, according to state police.

NJ Transit services were suspended between Newark Liberty Airport and Elizabeth, and Amtrak trains to New Jersey were being held at New York Penn Station.

US investigators believe there are more people involved in the NY bomb plot, Reuters reported.

The attacker – identified as 22-year-old Dahir A. Adan – was said to be a “solider of the Islamic State”, by the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq, CNN reports.

A bomb went off on Saturday in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 29 people.

On Sunday night, FBI agents in Brooklyn stopped “a vehicle of interest” in the investigation of the Manhattan explosion, according to FBI spokeswoman Kelly Langmesser.
