Ahmed Gulak Declares Self PDP Chairman

Justice Hussein Buba of an Abuja High Court had on December 15, 2015 in his declaratory judgment ordered Secondus Acting Chairman following the resignation of Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu to step aside within 14 days.

The court also said Mr. Secondus should handover the leadership of the party to either Mr. Gulak, who was the plaintiff to the suit, or any other qualified person from the north eastern part of the country.

Gulak continued:”At the expiration of 14 days on the 29th December 2015, the defendants failed, refused or neglected to obey the court orders by appointing me or any other person from the North-East Zone”.

Gulak made the pronouncement inside the National Working Committee Hall at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Gulak, who arrived the national headquarters of PDP at 1:42pm in company of other aides of the former president, said there was a change in the proposed date of the national convention which was set for March this year by the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC).

But addressing newsmen at Legacy House, PDP National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwon, dismissed Gulak as a Fifth Columnist, who is ignorant of the law.

He said his immediate task as acting chairman is to “take the party back to the people”.

He added that the party was not aware of any ruling by the court on its application for a stay of execution of the earlier judgment.

He sought the cooperation of the party members at the secretariat, saying it was time to chart a new course for the opposition party. Failure to assume duty as the national chairman will leave our party organs, especially the NWC, the NEC and the National Caucus, improperly constituted as every meeting of these groups must, in accordance with our constitution, be chaired by the National Chairman.

“So I advice Gulak, if he is interested to be National Chairman to lobby”.
