When Ahmed Mohamed got arrested for bringing a clock to school that administrators thought was a bomb hoax, news of his detainment went viral.

Ahmed Mohamed and his family were received at a presidential compound in Sudan’s capital Khartoum on Wednesday, according to state-run radio. Bashir’s dictatorial government reportedly offered sanctuary to Osama Bin Laden during the 90s, and the country is still under economic sanctions by the US.

Ahmed said he was pleased to meet al-Bashir and wished to meet him again with a new invention.
