A Trump Organization staffer identified herself on Wednesday as the person responsible for plagiarism in Melania’s Trump convention speech and offered her resignation.

Meredith McIver says the nearly word-for-word lifting happened after Melania gave her passages, over the phone, from Michelle’s speech.

Finally, on Wednesday, a speechwriter for the Trump organization – not the Trump campaign – admits she put it in the speech at Melania’s request.

McIver says Mrs. Trump read passages of Mrs. Obama’s 2008 convention speech during the writing the process.

“I am honoured to work for such a great family”, she said.

Pence’s solid conservative credentials, however, represent a boon for Trump as he works to consolidate support among his party’s right-wing doubters.

The Republican convention in Cleveland, which formally anointed Trump on Tuesday as the party nominee for the presidential election, was meant to be an occasion for the party to rally around its unorthodox White House candidate after a bitterly divisive primary campaign.

And ABC’s “Good Morning America” held an interview with Mr. Patrick, who defended Mr. Obama, his longtime friend, against the accusations.

Cruz walked onto the Cleveland stage to a standing ovation and held the audience’s rapt attention until he told delegates to “vote your conscience” with no mention of nominee Trump, who had called him “Lyin’ Ted” on the campaign trail.

Ms Obama, a Harvard-educated lawyer, has high approval ratings across the country and in Ms Trump’s home city has been embraced in NY fashion circles for her sense of style and elegance.

Neither Trump nor his wife have apologised for the incident and previously the campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, insisted the similarity was due to the two wives sharing a common view of family values.

Donald Trump Jr ripped into his father’s fired campaign manager Corey Lewandowski today over what he described as “bitter” behavior and repeated attempts to “sabotage” his former employer. So why did the Trump campaign initially argue that no language had been purloined, thereby dragging this story out for several days?

On Tuesday, documents obtained by NBC News showed that the original draft of the speech didn’t include the section apparently cribbed from Michelle Obama, raising suspicions that the passage had come from someone in the Trump campaign. “I personally admire the way Mr. Trump has handles this situation and I am grateful for his understanding”.

“You all are focusing on trying to distort that message in some respects”, he told reporters.
