The airline is collaborating with local authorities to determine the cause of the incident.

With no narrow-body aircraft being allowed to land till early on Friday morning, budget carriers SpiceJet and IndiGo have cancelled all their flights to Dubai.

“Apologies for inconvenience. All to/from Dubai flights stands cancelled for today”, SpiceJet also tweeted. “Apologies for inconvenience. All flights to and from Dubai stand cancelled for Thursday”, the airliner, said in a micro-blogging site.

In a statement posted on its website, Emirates said: “We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew”.

Children are crying and frightened passengers can be heard screaming as the crowd makes its way to one of the plane’s emergency exits.

Moments after Wednesday afternoon’s emergency landing, the passenger who was filming it captured part of the engine ablaze on video. Dubai International Airport gradually started to resume operations at approximately 18:30 local time on Wednesday.

Emirates said it expected a network wide delay for eight hours.

Several airlines including Spice Jet, Indigo, Jet Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Qatar Airways cancel some of their flights to and from Dubai on Thursday because of limited operations at the Dubai International Airport. Fourteen people were admitted to hospitals with injuries. 23 flights were diverted to alternative airports – Sharjah, Al Maktoum International (DWC), Fujairah, Al Ain, Muscat and Bahrain.

The incident shut down Dubai’s airport, one of the world’s busiest, for around 4-hours, forcing the cancellation or diversion of over 300-flights. Representatives of Boeing, Rolls-Royce and Emirates Airline will act as advisors to the representatives.

The pilot and the first officer have over 7,000 hours of flying experience each, the airline said.
