In keeping with the sports policy of the state government, Sakshi Malik will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 2.50 crore.

“Sakshi has really done India proud and her Olympic medal is definitely worth celebrating”. We provided them foreign coaches and training at foreign locations and that’s why a record 118 athletes qualified for the Rio Olympics.

India’s Sakshi Malik waves the Indian Tricolor after winning the bronze against Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova in the women’s wrestling freestyle 58-kg competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 17.

While this edition has not been as good has London in 2012, two medals in one week have boosted the country.

Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu were the only two players who came back with medals from the biggest sporting extravaganza.

On her defensive approach that saw her trailing 0-5, Sakshi said: “I never gave up till last, I knew I would win if I lasted till six minutes”.

He plans to host a function in Kochi to honour the Olympic medalists who made India proud.

Meanwhile, American swimmer Michael Phelps continued his dominance of the pool as he extended his tally to a staggering 22 Olympic gold medals, to end his career with a total of 28 Olympic medals.
