AIG will insure your drone against damage and liability
AIG’s decision to enter the drone insurance fray takes place as the FAA makes the first steps toward offering a legal framework for commercial use of drone aircraft. The policy will cover you if your drone crashes or goes awry, and will replace the drone and any gear it is carrying.

Apparently, AIG will now write an insurance policy for unmanned aerial vehicles of this sort. The policy will also cover the damage happened to third party, meaning it also covers damage happens to other persons and the objects. We’ve already seen it in several cases: We’ve seen a man arrested for crashing his drone at the U.S. Open, a drone crash land on top of a baby, and we’ve seen drones interfere with house fires and other emergency crews in emergency situations. Flying a drone, after all, isn’t always easy.

“AIG has developed coverage solutions specifically designed for the exposure faced by remotely piloted, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous aircraft”, states AIG on its official site. The company had so far created three distinct links on the site to allow them to understand further the background of a potential customer and the possible reason for obtaining an insurance. The company has announced that it has a new insurance product aimed directly at people who operate drones.
