AIPAC apologizes after Trump’s anti-Obama speech gets cheers

Trump’s previous pledge of neutrality inspired a small walkout by some AIPAC members, but his actual speech drew much applause from delegates that remained.

“If people want to be smart, they should embrace this movement”, Trump said at the site of a new hotel he is building in Washington. “We are paying disproportionately”. That, and the teleprompter, may have concerned some of his supporters who prefer the outlaw Trump who riles everyone up wherever he goes.

Clinton concluded by expressing hope that Israel and the U.S. would stay true to the “shared democratic values that have always been at the heart of our relationship”. Still, the Republican presidential front-runner’s North Atlantic Treaty Organisation comments could spur anxiety among the Western foreign policy establishment. “Trump’s remarks echoed those before and after him”.

Vice President Joe Biden, who met with Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas two weeks ago on a Middle East trip, expressed disappointment in his own address to Aipac on Sunday that there is was “no political will” to hold talks on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He added that his rival Hillary Clinton and the present Obama administration have treated Israel very, very badly.

“We will never allow Israel’s adversaries to think a wedge can be driven between us”, Clinton said. But he reserved his characteristic sneer for Obama and extended it to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his likely opponent as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination. All candidates, including Ms. Clinton, denounced Iran, and Republicans accused President Barack Obama of “appeasing” Iran. Clinton also cited the earlier examples of Trump’s hate speeches against Muslims and illegal immigrants.

“I have the steadiest hands”.

“It’s disgusting, and it’s gotta end”, Trump said. He called on the Palestinians, including Hamas, to accept Israel’s existence and respect its security.

Trump also said that if elected president, he would require the removal of the USA embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in a reversal of long standing American policy. Trump said he would scrap it on day one.

Earlier in the day, Trump told the Washington Post editorial board that he supported a non-interventionist foreign policy philosophy, focusing on reducing the United States’ engagement in conflicts overseas in order to focus on rebuilding infrastructure and the economy at home.

“Probably so”, Trump said. “My number-one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran”, the NY billionaire said in a rare scripted speech.

“If it was at 1190, so I am a little bit off…”

The candidates will next compete Tuesday in Utah, Arizona and Idaho. “So, I know the outer world exists and I’ll be very cognizant of that”.

“We are disappointed that so many people applauded a sentiment that we neither agree with nor condone”, she says. He also accused outside forces of stoking the unrest.

“I’ve been sounding the alarm for a while now”, the presidential hopeful said. They didn’t even respond.
