Air France flight diverted after suspicious device found in bathroom
Frédéric Gagey, the CEO of Air France, said the device was made of cardboard, paper, and a household timer, and that “this object did not contain explosives”, from a news conference in Paris. Last year, the USA warned that terrorists were plotting to use new stealth bombs in laptops and even humans to bring down a US-bound passenger plane.

Right now six passengers are being questioned about the gadget, including the guy who found it.
Global desk – A false bomb alert has forced an Air France flight emergency landing in Kenya as the aeroplane was en route to Paris from Mauritius, the airliner said.
Mr Gagey, speaking to reporters in Paris, said: “All the information available to us now indicates that the object was not capable of causing an explosion”. Daesh (the so-called IS terror group) has claimed responsibility for that and the October 31 crash of a Russian passenger in the Sinai desert that killed all 224 people aboard.
However, French media outlet iTELE reports that the suspicious package found on flight AF463 was a “dummy bomb”.
The passengers were successful evacuated and booked at various hotels in Mombasa waiting to be transferred to their destinations.
All passengers were safely evacuated and the device was taken out, said Owino. It was like something wrong in the toilet, like a…
Air France has been the target of three prior hoaxes, all in the United States, Gagey said. He declined to describe it as a fake bomb, but said it was a “homemade assembly of cardboard and a kitchen timer mechanism”.
One of those on board, Benoit Lucchini, said passengers were calm and were told by the crew that the plane was being diverted because of a technical problem.
“Bomb experts from the Navy and DCI (Directorate of Criminal Investigations) have retrieved the device and are determining whether the components contained explosives”, Mr Boinnet said. The Boeing 777, with more than 470 people on board, had been checked before take-off, Air France said.
“They are speaking to the passengers… who were near where the device was”, Nkaissery said.

In 2005 a JetBlue flight that circled Los Angeles with a malfunctioning landing gear was captured by television cameras, and passengers picked up the live broadcasts on the plane’s cabin monitors.
