Air France Flight Diverted To Montreal

“After a full security search, false alert confirmed by local authorities following an anonymous threat”, Air France said in a statement.

It is not the first time the airline’s flights have been diverted since the November 13 attacks in Paris which killed 130 people and left hundreds injured. Air France described the early landing as “a precaution”.

Air France staff is taking care of all passengers.

Prior to the attacks, Air France said, its passenger numbers were higher than during the same period a year ago.

The attacks haven’t just hurt Air France’s profits.

According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, the Boeing 777 took off from San Francisco International Airport shortly after 3 p.m. local time and was due to land in Paris Tuesday morning.

Air France said Tuesday it is to resume flights from its Paris hub to Tehran, a route suspended in 2008 after Iran was hit with global sanctions over its nuclear ambitions. The bank said the attacks had primarily affected the leisure, hotel and restaurant sectors.

In June, Paris came in second after London in the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index, a tally of the world’s most visited cities.
