Air kisses and Ted Cruz own Google
Speaking with David E. Sanger and Maggie Haberman, Trump said some things that will have Republican Party leaders, think tanks, and foreign governments, worried, confused, and frightened for the prospects of a Trump presidency.

During their contentious primary campaign, Cruz said Trump is not a true conservative, and he repeatedly stressed the NY businessman’s long-time association with Democrats.
“Jeff did you email them to fly the plane right when I said that?”
In a tweet after the convention adjourned for the night, Trump wrote that Cruz broke a promise they both had made to endorse the party’s White House choice.
Cuccinelli, a former Virginia attorney general, said: “When the speech ended, there was an ugly crowd behind us”. A witness said one person shouted: “Goldman Sachs” at Heidi Cruz in reference to her employment at the investment bank. Mike Lee, a close Cruz friend, gazing at the podium where Cruz will speak Wednesday evening.
The lingering tensions within the Republican party erupted on the floor of its national convention in a boo-soaked spectacle destined for the highlight reel of an already-historic election year.
“In my mind, what he (Cruz) did was disrespectful”, Reed said.
Manafort denied coordinating the booing in the audience of Cruz saying that “it must have been “organic”.
Cruz then signaled to a man in the back of the room.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was quoted as saying, “I just think it was an very bad performance”.
TED Cruz has revealed he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the Republican convention because the nominee trashed the Texas senator’s family during their nasty primary battle. But then, once the anti-Trump boos died down, Cruz added that “every one of us has an obligation to follow our conscience”. Christie joked that Cruz was “kissing Donald’s rear” during the first part of the campaign.
Some critics saw the appeal for people to vote their conscience as a vote of no-confidence in Trump. She said that she offered to resign but that Trump encouraged her to stay. “I’ve been a little preoccupied with my own stuff at the convention”.
But far more troubling than a Republican Party that pushes for extreme conservative principles is a party that lines up behind a demagogic extremist and suppresses principled dissent.
When reminded of U.S. treaty obligations, Trump said, “We have many NATO members that aren’t paying their bills. Many NATO nations are not making payments, are not making what they’re supposed to make”.
Manafort told NBC’s “Today” on Thursday that Cruz “understood what the responsibilities are, someone in his position”.
I ran into state Sen. Yet Cruz and his aides said he had submitted his speech to the Trump campaign for review in advance, and argued they knew it included no endorsement.
“I was very disappointed that he did not endorse Trump”, Gary Inmon, who lives near San Antonio, said. I asked if he planned to endorse Donald Trump.
In a highly emotional speech to the Texas delegation in Cleveland Thursday morning, Cruz said he would not vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton but wouldn’t commit to voting for Trump either.
A top political strategist – David Polyansky – will soon become his Senate office’s chief-of-staff, and he has kept in touch with top allies and donors that could give him an enormous head start four years from now.

But, in the end, none of what went on in the arena on Wednesday night, even the speech by Cruz, will have as long lasting an impact as the interview Trump gave The New York Times.
