July 24 Blackstone Group LP said Chief Financial Officer Laurence Tosi had resigned to become the CFO of online home rental website Airbnb Inc.
Tosi’s appointment is likely to put Airbnb, which has avoided an initial public offering in favor of private funding so far, in a better position to go public.
Joan Solotar, now head of external relations and strategy at Blackstone Group BX, -2.53% is considered a leading internal candidate to replace Tosi should he leave, some of the people said. From 2004 through 2007, Tosi was Merrill’s principal accounting officer for global finance.
Blackstone declined to comment on the Bloomberg report.

Blackstone said on Friday it appointed Michael Chae, a senior managing director at the firm, as Tosi’s replacement.
