It is unclear why the single-engine aircraft landed on part of Interstate 84 just west of Boise Airport. The craft’s propelled appear bent from striking the pavement, the agency said. A passerby told KTVB the aircraft did not have any lights.
‘Mayday, mayday, seven-three-Mike is going in on the freeway, engine failure, ‘ the pilot said.
The Cessna T210K airplane blocked the right two eastbound lanes but avoided any vehicles.
“OK, seven-three-mike, I’m glad to hear that, thank you”, the air traffic controller responds.
Traffic was backing up on the interstate.
Numerous emergency crews are on scene including Boise Police, Boise Fire, Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department.
Andy Patrick, owner of Boise-based charter business SP Aircraft, revealed that the pilot forgot to switch fuel tanks and that was why the engine cut out.

He says the pilot was the only person aboard the flight carrying freight from Spokane, Washington. Patrick declined to say what kind of freight was aboard the craft or name the pilot.
