Freeman was not injured during the incident and thanked his pilot, Jimmy Hobson, for the safe landing.

Morgan Freeman found himself in a chaotic situation on Saturday when a private jet he had commissioned went off a runway while making an emergency landing. The SJ30 jet took off from Clarksdale, Mississippi, and made an emergency landing in Tunica about 40 miles away.

The Clarksdale mayor said another plane subsequently went to Tunica to pick up the actor, who has a home in Mississippi.

“I was on my plane on the way to Texas to shoot a segment for ‘The Story of God, ‘”.

He added: “I appreciate the concern and prayers for our safety”.

The mayor said he didn’t know the extent of the plane’s damage.

Randy Stewart, the chief deputy in the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed there were no injuries, that Freeman was not piloting the craft and that an inspector would check the plane Sunday. Back in 2008, he was involved in a horrific auto crash in MS and had to be airlifted to the hospital with multiple broken bones.

He has appeared in various movies, including “Million Dollar Baby”, “The Shawshank Redemption” and “Invictus”. There were no charges filed regarding the accident, and in 2009, the actor settled a lawsuit that had been filed by the passenger.
