Chambers new manager, Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, has now vowed to send the on-loan Gunners defender back to the Emirates a better player than when he left.
“Sometimes in the market you can find bargains”.
“Now it’s Crystal Palace and there are another three points [at stake] and now we are in a really good position”.
“I’ve always said it’s a nice problem for me to have to arrive at my desk and have 20 players to choose from for the following game”, Karanka said. “It’s the same thing when we send players on loan”.
Asked if Chambers had something to prove, the Spaniard said: “He has come here to help us”.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is confident he bought well in the final, frantic stages of the transfer window after bringing in Calum Chambers and Adama Traore.
The Riverside has proven a fortress for Boro under Karanka but he is well aware that the Eagles will be hard opponents, despite having yet to register a victory.
“Since I came here the numbers are good, but we do know that this season that ever single game is going to be tough”.
Crystal Palace travel to Middlesbrough this weekend and whilst neither side would like to admit it, it could be a relegation six pointer.
“But we have to focus on ourselves and play in our style”. Victor Valdes came here [on a free transfer from Manchester United], and I can’t guarantee he would play.
“I never give guarantees to a player who comes in”.
For Lawrenson at least he thinks the turnaround does indeed start here for the Eagles with a prediction completely against the formbook: “Middlesbrough are unbeaten so far, but this is a game they will expect to win and I think they will find it hard”.
The head coach hopes Uruguay stars Cristhian Stuani and Gaston Ramirez will be available after the pair represented their country in Montevideo on Wednesday in the 1-1 draw with Paraguay.

“But the main thing is that both of them are not injured”.
