Ajax rule out Milik exit

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has turned his attention to Poland global Arkadiusz Milik as a move for Graziano Pelle slips from the Toffees’ grasp, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.

A statement on Ajax’s website confirmed the news that Milik would remain in the Netherlands for the foreseeable future, with the striker now contracted to the club until July 2019.

A club statement read: “Ajax and Arkadiusz Milik have agreed the striker will not leave the club this transfer window”.

The Liverpool Echo reported the news earlier on Tuesday, and claim that the forward will remain at the Amsterdam Arena after holding talks with the Dutch giants.

The 22-year-old scored six goals for Poland in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, following that up with one goal and an assist in five appearances at the finals in France this summer.

“The Ajax technical team and coach Peter Bosz attach great importance to maintaining the club’s top goalscorer of last season”. The Poland global has a contract with Ajax until July 2019, but has caught the attention of a number of clubs.

Ronald Koeman has been running the rule over Milik and after Everton missed out on Graziano Pelle – who moved to China this week – Ajax’s top scorer was seen as a viable alternative.
