Husband and son of a Shiromani Akali Dal sarpanch on Thursday allegedly slapped a pregnant nurse at a private hospital in Bagha Purana town of Moga and pushed her to the ground.
In what can be termed as an abuse of power, an Akali dal sarpanch along with his son thrashed a five-month pregnant nurse when she asked them to wait outside the doctor’s cabin.
Baghapurana station house officer (SHO) Gurmail Singh said the accused were on the run.
The entire incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed inside the hospital. The nurse told NDTV that she had asked them to wait outside when she found them occupying seats “meant for staff”.
Responding to allegations, Paramjit Singh put the blame squarely on the victim, accusing her of rampant misconduct. The video, which has now gone viral, shows son Gurjit Singh first arguing with the nurse. The nurse too was seen retaliating with a slap but soon she was showered with slaps and fists. “The vandalism and arrogance of the Akalis is on display”, he said.

Police has booked the Akali sarpanch and his son Gurjeet under sections 451, 323, 503 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). “If police fail to take action against the accused, we will start protests”.
