Arvind Yadav is alleged of using disgraceful, and indecent language towards Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. On Friday, Mulayam Singh Yadav met Akhilesh and Shivpal at his Lucknow residence and held discussions.

The Chief Minister also said there is no fight within the family.

Amidst the Yadav family feud, Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party President Shivpal Yadav has commented on his nephew Akhilesh Yadav, saying that a Chief Minister should not be arrogant.

After his meeting with Mulayam, which lasted hardly for about 15 minutes, Shivpal left for his residence after which Akhilesh Yadav returned home to meet Mulayam and they discussed the situation. They want Akhilesh Yadav to be made UP party president. Netaji ka sanket hi mere liye aadesh hai, Akhilesh ne bhi keh diya hai, toh phir jhagda kahaan bachaa? They are demanding that Akhilesh should be reinstated as the UP Samajwadi Party state unit chief. “I accept Netaji’s decision to bring Gayatri Prajapati back into cabinet”, he said.

“In 2012, Shivpal was of the opinion that I should become the chief minister for the fourth time, and Akhilesh must be given the position only after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections”.

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has characterized the family feud, and the recent sacking of two ministers by Akhilesh for alleged corruption, as a clever ruse to project a clean-corruption free image as the state polls draw closer.

And even as Akhilesh Yadav said publicly that he wanted to have the final say in picking candidates in next year’s assembly elections, Mulayam Singh ordered that sacked Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati – a Shivpal protege – should get his job back.

When asked about his meeting with Shivpal, Akhilesh on Saturday said in a lighter vein, “You (reporters) can say anything”.

Akhilesh had earlier divested Shivpal of all important ministerial portfolios including PWD, irrigation, cooperative, flood control and revenue and handed him the social welfare department. Subsequently, Shivpal had tendered his resignation from the Cabinet as well as party post.

His supporters, wearing Shivpal Yadav T-shirts, raised slogans declaring they are with him.

On Mayawati’s comment against the party, Shvipal said, “She should first take care of her party before commenting on others”. We will not let the party be weakened.

The importance of Shivpal, also Mulayam’s favourite sibling, is such that it is universally acknowledged that his popularity in SP is second only to the party chief.
