Akhilesh Yadav accuses Opposition of tutoring Bulandshahr gangrape survivors
A woman and her daughter were gang-raped in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh last week after their auto was stopped on highway by robbers. Bablu (22), who was sent to 14-day judicial custody along with two others, hailed from Aterna village, Faridabad, said Bhupendra Singh, DCP, Ballabgarh. “We are investigating the matter and hope to arrest the culprits soon”, he added.

Bawariya gang members escape the police net because they have different names such as “saasi”, “mewaiti”, “ghumantu”, “kangra” and ‘bhaatu’.
IG Meerut Sujeet Pandey was yesterday named to head the probe into the Bulandshahr gangrape incident while Principal Secretary (Home) and DGP of Uttar Pradesh were directed to ensure speedy investigation. The suspects are being interrogated in connection with the incident that took place Friday night when the family was travelling from Noida to Shahjahanpur by vehicle.
Family of the 13-year-old girl and her mother, who were gangraped at gunpoint in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahar area, has threatened to commit suicide if the accused were not punished within three months. “UP mein janata trast, apradhi mast aur police laachar hai (In UP public is hapless, criminals are happy and police is helpless)”, Sharma said.
Earlier, while launching the book of former Up-Lokayukta Swatantra Singh after the oath taking ceremony, Governor Ram Naik said corruption was spreading in society like cancer.
Describing the incident as “chilling”, “barbaric” and one that has “shocked human conscience”, Congress said the state Government must take decisive action in the matter.
He further said that the incidents of rapes were rampant in the state, but the CM was just defending himself and doing nothing to control the crimes. “Such incidents have also happened in the past”, Keshav Maurya told reporters.
What kept Akhilesh away from paying a visit to Akhlaq’s traumatised family was an old superstition that a visit to Noida accelerates the fall of any chief minister’s government.
