Akhilesh Yadav releases own list of 235 candidates for UP polls
Those close to the SP chief believe that Akhilesh was trying to take over the party by undermining Mulayam’s authority and weeding out those close to the ageing patriarch.

Soon after Akhilesh’s father and party chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav, announced the shock decision, hundreds thronged to the CM’s 5 Kalidas Marg residence.
The virtual collapse of the Samajwadi Party on Friday evening has put the Bharatiya Janata Party back on top of the ladder in the forthcoming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. Both the leaders were considered close to Shivpal. If Akhilesh resigns then he can form a new party, but with elections round the corner in state, he will not be able to complete the formalities of forming a new party.
The biggest questions is who would be the BOSS in SP – Akhilesh or MSY.
September 18: Shivpal Yadav expels Ramgopal Yadav and another leader for their alleged involvement in land grabbing. They also raised slogans denouncing SP State president Shivpal Yadav and Amar Singh. He said by calling the meet, Ram Gopal Yadav has hurt the party’s interest. They accused the party chief of doing “injustice”.
The State has been plunged into a political crisis as Akhilesh is now the Chief Minister but not a member of the ruling party.
Mulayam Singh hit out at Ram Gopal by saying, “no one has the right to call for a National Executive Meeting, other than the Party Chief”.
The ministers who were sacked by Akhilesh-Om Prakash Singh from Zamania, Syeda Shadab Fatima from Zahoorabad, Narad Rai from ballia Nagar and Raj Kishore Singh from Haraiyyah have been again given ticket.
“Akhilesh is likely to announce his own list of candidates”, SP MLA Indal Singh said later.
On Sunday, Akhilesh had submitted his own list of candidates for all 325 constituencies.

Extending his full support to the CM, Ram Gopal Yadav said, “I will always be with Akhilesh, those who are his opponents are also my opponent”. The party comes first. “My intention is not to punish anyone but a lot of effort. went into the making of this party and we must save it”, he said with his brother Shivpal beside him.
