The line dividing Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav is now firmly etched. Though Mulayam had told Singhal that he concurred with his son’s decision, the SP chief was persuaded by Singh and called up Akhilesh, asking him to reinstate the sacked bureaucrat. “I will speak to you (media) in Lucknow”, he said, adding that “he (Shivpal) is not angry”. Still he has been painted as a villain.
Mulayam is likely to reach Lucknow on Friday morning amid indications that he may have a one-on-one meeting with Akhilesh there. As of now, all eyes are on Mulayam, who is huddled in a meeting with senior party leaders in Delhi for a patch-up between “chacha-bhatija (uncle-nephew)”.
