Alabama adds former USC coach Sarkisian as offensive analyst

When looking at how bad opening night was for the USC Trojans, it can be admittedly hard to realize it could’ve been worse.

As the first half wound down and No. 1 Alabama began to assert its dominance with a 17-3 lead, ABC cameras caught several Tide players and coaches engaged in a bit of a scuffle near the defensive bench.

Speight threw an interception on his first snap but bounced back with TD passes to Grant Perry, Jake Butt and Amara Darboh to put MI up 21-0 early in the second quarter.

Saban did confirm that whomever Alabama marches out for the first series will most likely not be the only quarterback the Tide uses for the game. Quarterback Mike White led the way with 517 passing yards and three touchdowns. We’re talking a 52-6 drubbing of USC on Saturday. That’s right. Nick Saban admitted to a weakness, even though those of the Crimson and White persuasion likely wouldn’t believe it. Did our offense look as good as it should’ve?

In the process of praising WKU, he seemed to take a minor swipe at South Alabama and Southern Miss. Things started very rocky as he fumbled a read option and USC recovered.

The season-opening win came at AT&T Stadium – the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys – was also where the Crimson Tide started their 2012 and 2015 national championship seasons with victories.

Sarkisian, who was sacked mid-season a year ago due to drinking issues, was set to work as a game analyst for Fox Sports starting next week. Cooper finally got to get some time at quarterback late in the fourth quarter. He said Alabama will attempt to take away everything easy, making the quarterback throw down the field to beat them. Kevin Steele had the reputation of a failure as a head coach at Baylor and then as defensive coordinator at Clemson before Saban added him to the personnel department. Those are the types of questions that Nick Saban asked himself after the game. Personal demons and addictions got the best of the former head coach, and he had to seek professional attention. Unlike graduate assistants, analysts aren’t permitted to be involved in any on-field coaching, including at practice, though their roles inside the building, in meetings and during game-week preparations are just as vital. While the Tide had some explosive runs, there was alot of inconsistency in the running game in the first half. “They finished in the top 25 previous year”.

Sure, there are 11 regular-season games left. Freshman Joshua Jacobs had 4 carries for 20 yards and highly touted freshman BJ Emmons had 6 carries for 18 yards. “They’re really good friends”. These are the type of games you want to see. Alabama is too talented and deep at receiver.
