Alabama, Auburn tumble in AP poll after Saturday losses

“It was definitely a four-quarter battle”. Henry gained 127 yards, but the majority of it came in the fourth quarter with the game almost out of hand when Alabama went back to its strength just to try and stop the bleeding. “That’s a credit to their staff and the character of their team and their kids”.

But rather than addressing the past, let’s look at the here and now: Is Ole Miss the best team in college football?

Alabama ran 100 offensive plays Saturday here – 100! – and still couldn’t win.

“Cole Mazza is out for medical reasons”, Saban said. “We made the plays at time and times we didn’t”.

“Chad studies more film than I do”, Freeze said. But are you going to be a giver, or are you going to be a taker?

“I don’t know if there’s anybody we could beat if we’re going to give away 31 points”, Saban said.

All of the above is true, but the upset didn’t happen without Ole Miss having something to do with it. An opportunity is worthless if you don’t take advantage of it and the Rebels (3-0, 1-0) did that every time. Fournette looks like he can’t be stopped with 387 yards and six touchdowns on the season in only two games. Ole Miss will nearly certainly enter the top 10 this week, and now, a few of the doubters may be beginning to quiet. After an Alabama turnover, Kelly fired a 24-yard touchdown pass to Laquon Treadwell to make it 43-24. “It doesn’t matter to me”. “Grandma is looking over me today”. Good luck trying to figure out which Auburn team shows up against Mississippi State. “This is awesome. This is what you dream about”. He has thrown nine touchdowns and only two picks.

Saban said he was really pleased with the effort the team gave against. “They played a really good game”. Mullaney, from Thousand Oaks, Calif., scored his first ever touchdown for the Crimson Tide as he leapt over a defender into the end zone and added his second score late in the fourth quarter. The final margin of six points made Saturday’s Ole Miss-Alabama matchup a one-possession game, but the Rebels were in control of the game with an average chance to win of 75 percent throughout. The offense struggled the entire game with only 260 yards of total offense and zero first half points. He only had 10 carries in the second half. This is the Rebels second consecutive defeat over the Tide. But in a clever turn to drive home his point, Freeze also burned the new college football football polls that have the Rebels ranked in the top four.

If both Memphis and Ole Miss remain unbeaten until their mid-October meeting, would ESPN’s GameDay come calling for what could amount to a Glendale knockout game? The last time the Big Ten held the top two spots in the AP poll was November 2006 when Ohio State and Michigan went into their annual rivalry game Nos.

Saban said he expects Coker to start Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe, ahead of a visit to No. 7 Georgia.

The 12th-ranked Crimson Tide’s challenge now is to do it again. Head coach Gus Malzahn has benched quarterback Jeremy Johnson and replaced him with freshman Sean White.
