Two people are believed to have been involved in the shooting, but at this point, no one is in custody in connection with the crime. The shooting occurred at an apartment on campus, the college said in an email to faculty and students shortly after midnight, WVTM13.com, a local news network, reported. Miles College is in the Birmingham area. No one is in custody at this time.
Fairfield police say Morris’ roommate called them around 10:05 p.m. and said his roommate had just been shot. Both the police and the college believe the incident was isolated and that no other students were ever in danger.
Morris was enrolled at Miles College. It’s never happened in our history, we take this extremely serious. When police arrived on the scene Morris was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:46 p.m.
Miles College officials are also working closely with Fairfield Police Department on the investigation.

Miles College spokeswoman Alicia Johnson also confirmed that officials asked “students to stay in their rooms and exercise precautionary measures, ” she said. We’re still waiting to get more information from police this morning.
