Alabama football takes on rival Auburn

With less than a week until this year’s edition of the Iron Bowl (Alabama leads all-time series 43-35-1), it is safe to say that the “chatter” between fans of the two schools will only intensify leading up to Saturday’s kickoff. He decommitted from the Tigers shortly after the camp, and committed to Alabama a few weeks later. It’s a little tougher to flip Davidson since he grew up in an Auburn household. I’m the youngest, so all my cousins and brothers are older than me. “I think it’s all about staying focused on what you need to do to play your best football on the road and not letting outside noise affect your ability to focus on what you need to do to play well against a very, very good team”.

Nick Saban’s team needs a victory to clinch the SEC West and set up a SEC title game showdown with Florida on December 5. “I know they’re going to be fired up, and we’re going to be fired up”.

Newton graduated from Auburn in the spring after returning to finish his degree. He has been to several games in Tuscaloosa this fall.

Some Alabama players were not complimentary of Auburn’s players. Who be the starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl? “He challenged everyone. We went out there and scored the second play of the third quarter and he came to the sideline and said, ‘We’re fixing to beat these boys.’ From then on, you could kind of sense it. We got the momentum”.

“The Iron Bowl is just a game that means a lot to everybody involved with both Auburn and Alabama, and we already know what type of atmosphere it’s going to be going down there playing, and we just hope to come out with the W and just go in there and do our jobs, get ready for the next one”, Jones said. Alabama will win though, 42-17. “I think it’s a much more tight-knit locker room”.

Several top 2017 in-state prospects will attend the game this weekend including Nico Collins, Rivals100 wide receiver from Clay-Chalkville High School; Will Ignont, Rivals100 linebacker from Buckhorn High School in New Market; Markail Benton, Rivals100 linebacker from Central High School in Phenix City; and Austin Troxell, four-star offensive tackle from Madison Academy High School. Coker said he knows the importance of beating Alabama’s in-state rival. Collins, Troxell and Ignont have been to Alabama several times this fall.
