Alabama RB Derrick Henry becomes new Heisman Trophy favorite in Vegas

The Crimson Tide, despite having already suffered one loss this season, found themselves at #4 in last week’s playoff rankings, inciting rage from all over the country. In 2015, the Bulldogs are the 20th ranked team, whereas Alabama is the No. 4 ranked team and will move up in the ranking when the second College Football Playoff rankings come out tonight. He put his team on his back, and handled the heavy workload of 38 carries to throttle the Tigers to the tune of 210 rushing yards. The nation’s leading rusher, Fournette gained only 31 yards on 19 carries. He had 13 yards on 15 carries entering the fourth quarter before scoring his 16th touchdown with 9:18 left. “That’s their bread and butter”. Alabama took over the game early and in spite of a charge by LSU in the second quarter they were able to completely dominate the second half while cruising to an easy win over the dispirited Tigers. The Tigers finished with a meager 54.

“I remember (current San Francisco 49ers safety) Eric Reid making a talk like this after we lost the Florida game my freshman year”, Mills said.

“Nobody can run the ball on the Tide, and no one’s slowed down Derrick Henry anytime recently”.

Ole Miss scored a TD and added an extra point on its OT possession, then the Razorbacks got the ball and kept the game alive on fourth-and-25 play when Allen completed a pass to Hunter Henry, who flung the ball backward and Alex Collins picked it up on the bounce and ran for a 31-yard gain.

Christian McCaffrey, the Stanford bastion of versatility, posted his seventh straight 100-yard rushing game and even threw a touchdown pass even if one must assert that the Colorado defensive front does not come up in conversation with the Alabama defensive front (which Fournette faced, and faced helplessly). In addition to the Crimson Tide, LSU was jumped in the rankings by Oklahoma State, Notre Dam, Stanford and Iowa, as well as Clemson in the Coaches Poll.

Griffith was named SEC special teams player of the week after three field goals and averaging 64 yards on 7 kickoffs.

After a few shakeups around college football, Fox Sports’ Stewart Mandel believes the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide will meet in a highly-anticipated rematch on New Years Eve.

Henry answered the bell Saturday night when he went for over 200 yards against LSU’s well coached and very talented defense. “They executed and we didn’t”. Well, I think they quieted a good bit of people with how they played.

Those six minutes belonged to LSU, and the other 54 belonged to Alabama.

“I would love to play Alabama again”, Decker said Monday.

“Everybody is upset, but as a leader of the team, me and Mills and all of the leaders said to keep our head high and we know we could finish this season out in the championship”. The reason why I say “almost always” is that if you lose to the one team you can’t afford to lose to (in TCU’s case from 2014, that one oppoent was Baylor), your case is weakened. He was held out of interviews after the game as was Harris. “A lot of plays fell through”. They just got their talent handed to them Saturday.

And it’s Coach Miles and his assistants job to make sure the Tigers fully understand that. “We control our own fate in terms of winning the (Big Ten) East and that’s the thing we’ve got to focus on”.

And could you imagine what LSU coach Les Miles could have accomplished and would be accomplishing in the near future if Saban was not Alabama’s coach? We have to improve.

We also learned Clemson is ready to take the next step. Once Brandon Harris threw an interception to start the second half, you began to think that was pretty much it. You can not give a team like that a short field at home and expect them to not capitalize on it. After that, Harris looked nervous and rattled.
