Alabama report card: Tide turn in dominant performance vs. MSU
The Alabama Crimson Tide face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a crucial SEC matchup Saturday. His run gave Alabama a 21-3 at halftime lead. It had a 7-2 record entering Saturday, but its best wins of the season was against a struggling Auburn.

Plus dual action star quarterback Dak Prescott of Haughton returned for his senior season and is playing better than a season ago when he contended for the Heisman Trophy. While Prescott had success passing and threw for 304 yards when he wasn’t getting sacked, Alabama made the Bulldogs one dimensional and racked up negative plays.
Coker was 15-of-25 passing on the day and had a 60-yard touchdown pass to freshman sensation Calvin Ridley in the second quarter.
In five games against nationally-ranked teams, the 6-foot-3, 242-pounder has averaged 173.6 yards per game, including 236 yards rushing against Texas A&M and 210 in last week’s victory over LSU.
Dan Mullen has never held a lead against Alabama. A loss from Alabama and a win by Ole Miss over LSU, though, would hand the Rebels the tiebreaker in the SEC West. Prescott, who is second in the SEC in total offense as he has 418 rushing yards for a 2,769 total, is the type of run-and-pass quarterback that can give Alabama coach Nick Saban’s defense fits. The time is ripe for a State upset of Bama, particularly since it does not go into the game in the rare air of No. 1 that it couldn’t quite handle last season. State is under the radar and waiting in the bushes.
Alabama took another huge step this week toward an SEC championship game date with Florida.
“He’s fast. He’s faster than people think”. “They have five-star players across the board”. Maybe it’s a lack of pressure that they feel because they’ve been in this situation before instead of not knowing what to expect or how to act in these situations.
Mullen said his team played “fantastic” defense for most of the night, but was undone by Alabama’s ability to make big plays. Prescott should have no shame in using his legs to impact the game.
Derrick Henry discarded Mississippi State defensive back Kivon Coman on the way to a 65-yard touchdown that put the capper on a 31-6 blowout at Mississippi State on Saturday. LSU coach Les Miles will not be watching, though.
“Everybody just got on their man and I just tried to make a play”, Jones said. I’m proud of our team.
After everything was settled on the field and the Tide walked away with the 31-6 win over Mississippi State, the Tide defense ended the game with nine sacks which are the most since Alabama matched that number in 1998 against Vanderbilt.

GUILBEAU POLL: 1. Alabama (8-1, 5-1 SEC). 2. They can not afford the same thing against Mississippi State who have the right amount of talent to upset the Tide and break a losing streak against their conference opponent. MSU started with nine straight wins and reached No. 1 in the country.
